157 Audio has had an exciting month of June. 2 live tracking dates of exceptional groups- Chops (www.chopshorns.com) and Ken Serio (www.trippingtree.com). Both sessions went great, the bands were definitely on, and mixing will begin this coming weekend. Also, 157 Audio changed recording setups, with the new setup offering exceptional sound quality and solid reliability. Samples of these sessions will be posted, along with the finished mixes from the Matt Coffy band (passed on to a fine mix engineer) as soon as they are available. Recent work has also been completed with Karl Dietel, keyboardist from the Samples, who has written some killer tunes. These have also been sent to the mix engineer, with a report from Karl, currently on tour, that the mixes sound incredible. More updates soon!

The
sessions with the Matt Coffy Band went extremely well. The band was
well prepared and play together really well. Vocals are currently being
recorded and then mixing will begin. It has been a pleasure to work
with this band!
The
Harveymoon have been working on finishing the new cd, with "Faster than
the Sun" achieving its final mix earlier this month. Also, stay tuned
for the release of "Go Live!," which was recorded during an outdoor
summer show in NJ. Mastering was done by Paul Kim and the tracks are sounding great if I don't mind bragging! Expect a mid-winter release as we are just awaiting manufacturing.
In other news, 157 Audio has purchased some new equipment, inlcuding a fostex vf160 hard disk recorder, which will make live recording very easy, and artists will have the option of mixing on the spot or dumping the tracks into protools for more extensive mixing.

I am currently finishing a demo for Maureen Fichten, recorded at Music University in Freehold, NJ. Maureen is an amazing songwriter and has been a complete pleasure to work with this month. I have a strong feeling you will be hearing a lot from her in the future, and would not be surprised at all if you hear her songs recorded by major artists very soon. Samples will be posted with her permission I hope as soon as the final mixes are approved.
Thanks to Paul Sallee, the owner of Music University, who hosted, produced, and played piano and organ, as well as Jeff Brayne on guitar and Rene Wooley on drums. I would enthusiastically recommend any of these players for your project. They approach it with care and feeling and are very easy people to work with. Although I have known Jeff and Paul for about 10 years, it was the first time meeting Rene and I hope not the last. It was also the first time I had been to Paul's school and he really did a great job building this place- it used to be a Rockaway Bedding and now it is a beautiful lesson facility along with a nice lounge and storefront.
Paul and I also just worked on a project for Brittany, a singer/ songwriter in the general vein of Vanessa Carlton and Fiona Apple, and although this was just a basic piano and vocal demo, I really hope we are able to turn it into a full project because her songs were great, a little off the beaten path and delivered with a lot of conviction.
That's all the news for now; there is an exciting session coming up with the Matt Coffy Project this weekend and I will post details, including pictures, if they allow.
